Rail yards

The biggest rail yards:
Bailey yard is the world’s largest railroad classification yard. Owned and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad. Bailey Yard is located in North Platte, Nebraska. The gigantic Bailey Yard covers a total expanse of 2,850 acres (12 km²) and is over 8 miles (13 km) in length and 2 miles wide (3.2 km). The yard is made up of some 315 miles (507 km) of track, including 18 receiving and 16 departure tracks. Bailey Yard handles over 10,000 railroad cars every day. Approximately 3,000 cars are sorted daily in the yard’s two humps. Because of the enormous amount of products that pass through Bailey Yard, Union Pacific describes the yard as an “economic" barometer of America:

Other huge freight railyards in the USA are found in the city of Chicago. Chicago is the freight rail yard of the world. The Chicago area economy developed on its ability to move freight. With heightened global trade, Chicago area freight transportation has grown rapidly and it is projected to continue to do so. The freightrail yard Bedfordpark and the freightrail yard Stonepark are the biggest 2 of Chicago and also belong to the biggest railyards in the world.

Europe's biggest freight rail station is located south of Hamburg near the town of Maschen:

The biggest freight rail yard in Asia is located in India in the town of Mughalsarai. Other huge freight rail yards are this one in the city of Guangzhou in China, this one in Paris France (This one also has a large "circular train switch" like you can see below: )
