Shipyards:

Shipyards and dockyards are places which repair and build ships. These can be yachts, military vessels, cruise liners or other cargo or passenger ships. Hyuandai heavy Industry Shipbuilding Division, the world's number one shipbuilder, leads the global shipbuilding industry with a 15% share of the market. It's shipyard in Ulsan in South Korea is currently the largest in the world and has the capability to build a variety of vessels including Commercial Cargo, Offshore and Naval vessels. The Hyundai shipyard stretches over four kilometers along the coast of Mipo Bay in Ulsan. Most of the docks in the shipyard are found here:

But there is another major dock yard which is called Mipo dock yard over here:

The future biggest shipyard however will be a shipyard from the Chinese Shipbuilding company CSSC. The shipyard, covering eight kilometres of coast along Shanghai's Changxign Island, will be fully operational by 2015. Now it is considered as the second biggest shipyard in the world after the one in Ulsan:

When talking about militaity vessels the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia, is one of the largest militairy shipyards in the world. It is specializing in repairing, overhauling and modernizing naval ships and submarines. For example these aircraft cariers which are stationed at the Naval station in Norfolk.

In the cruise ship building business the Turku shipyard in Finland is the biggest in the world. A large part of the world's largest cruise ships have built in the Turku shipyards:

The world's largest cruise ship, Freedom of the Seas, also has been build in the Turku ship yard. Seen in action here near Mexico.
